Free drop-in 45-minute classical guitar session with Nigel Modern, held inside the Pre-Raphaelite galleries at the museum.
Nigel Modern is bringing classical guitar to the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery this November, with sessions running on Saturday 7, 14 and 21. He'll be playing inside the Pre-Raphaelite galleries, so you can drift in and out of the music while you're looking at the paintings.
Modern is a classical guitarist who specialises in Spanish and acoustic repertoire. He's spent his career balancing two very different lives in medicine and music, and that dual track has taken him to some proper stages, including London's Purcell Room. These days he's focusing on bringing classical guitar into community settings rather than the big concert halls, and these sessions fit right into that: they're drop-in, meaning you don't have to commit to the whole thing. Each one runs for 45 minutes, so you can catch a bit of it and keep moving, or stay for the full set.

Because it's spread across three Saturdays, you've got a few chances to catch him. On each of those days, there are two sessions: one at 1:00pm and another at 2:15pm. If you're already spending an afternoon at the museum, it's an easy thing to slot in. The sessions are free, and they're held inside the Pre-Raphaelite galleries at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square, B3 3DH.
