Family screening of the animated film 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' at The Belfast Barge, part of the Cinemagic Festival 2026.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is screening at The Belfast Barge on Sunday 1 November, as part of the Cinemagic Festival 2026. It's a 2026 animated sequel and video-game adaptation directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, produced in Japan and the USA, and it runs for 98 minutes.
The story picks up with Mario and Luigi's life in the Mushroom Kingdom thrown into chaos when Bowser's ambitious son, Bowser Jr., frees his imprisoned father and sets out to restore the Koopa family name, putting the whole galaxy at risk. The brothers team up with Princess Peach, Toad, and their new friend Yoshi on a high-speed mission across star systems to rescue the captured Rosalina, guardian of the cosmos, while facing off against Bowser and Bowser Jr. and uncovering long-lost royal secrets. It's packed with Nintendo easter eggs and pitched as a fast-moving, action-packed adventure for families.
The screening is part of the Cinemagic Festival 2026, which is running at The Belfast Barge — the boat permanently moored on the River Lagan, just behind the Waterfront Hall. A ticket is required for everyone except children under two, who don't need their own seat.
