World premiere of 'Lost City', directed by Seán Murray and starring Martin McCann, at Cineworld as the opening night of the 26th Belfast Film Festival.
The 26th Belfast Film Festival kicks off at Cineworld on Thursday 29 October with the world premiere of Lost City, a new feature drama from Belfast filmmaker Seán Murray. The screening starts at 7:30pm, and Murray will be there alongside the cast, so you'll get to see the people behind the film in the room with you.
Lost City is Murray's first feature drama; he's best known for his documentaries, including Unquiet Graves. The story follows a boxer who gets dragged into the city's criminal underworld to protect the woman he loves when her violent ex follows her to Belfast. It's led by Martin McCann, whom you'll recognise from Blue Lights, and also stars Stephen Rea, John Connors, and Geraldine Hughes.
That's just the opening night, though. The festival runs from 29 October to 7 November, with screenings spread across the city at Queen's Film Theatre, Cineworld, ODEON Belfast, The Avenue, Black Box, and the Beanbag Cinema. It closes with the Irish premiere of Clio Barnard's I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning.

There's also a bit of a celebration running through the festival: Stephen Rea is being honoured with the Réalta Award, which recognises those who use their craft for the greater good and champion underrepresented voices. Rea has worked across film, television, and theatre for over five decades, and he's one of the city's most celebrated actors, so it's a fitting nod. Between the opening premiere and the closing film, there's a full programme to work through across the city over those ten days.
