Screening of Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining' at the Europa Hotel, with cabaret-style seating and a bar open, as part of the Belfast International Horror Festival.
The Shining is screening at The Europa Hotel on Thursday 29 October, as part of the Belfast International Horror Festival 2026. The festival runs from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November, so this is one of several screenings across the city that week.
The film is Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980), based on the novel by Stephen King, with Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrance. It follows Torrance, who takes a job as caretaker at the Overlook Hotel with his wife Wendy and son Danny, only to encounter the madness that lurks within. The screening is presented by the Belfast International Horror Festival team in partnership with the Linen Quarter Bid, who describe it as one of their most ambitious events to date.

It's not a standard cinema setup: seating is arranged in a cabaret style, with a bar open on the night, so you can have a drink while you watch. The venue is The Europa Hotel on Great Victoria Street in the city centre, Northern Ireland's oldest hotel, a four-star property that holds Silver Green Tourism Accreditation.
