Stand-up show by Simon Evans, the third instalment of a trilogy that began with 'Genius 2.0' and 'The Work of the Devil'.
Simon Evans is at The Limelight on Saturday 17 October, with his new show Have We Met?. It's a stand-up comedy set that runs for around two hours, so you'll want to clear the whole evening for it.
For Evans, this one is more than just a new tour. Have We Met? completes a trilogy he started with Genius 2.0 and The Work of the Devil, so if you've followed his work over the last few years, this is the final chapter of that particular run. The show pulls from a wide range of sources: James Joyce and Marcel Proust sit alongside the career of Philip Schofield, and Evans weaves comedy, pathos and narrowly averted cancellation through the lot of it.
Running through the middle is the figure of Ulysses, pondering whether to seek a newer world or simply put the kettle on. It's a good summary of the kind of territory Evans likes to cover — mixing high-culture references with the sort of mundane, domestic details that ground the whole thing in something recognisable.
