Family preview screening of the animated film 'Papaya' at the ODEON in Belfast, part of the Cinemagic festival.
Papaya is coming to ODEON Cinema Belfast on Wednesday 28 October, as part of a family preview screening. It's a family adventure from AX1 Films that follows a tiny papaya seed with a passion for flying. To keep that dream alive, she has to stay on the move to avoid rooting herself, and it's through that perseverance that she eventually discovers the power of her roots — the way they connect life through deep, mysterious paths and spark a major revolution, transforming her world and bringing her dream to life in a way she never expected. The film is rated U and runs for 75 minutes.
The screening is one of many during the 37th Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People, which takes over Belfast for a month with a full programme of screenings, industry talks, workshops and hands-on learning. It brings together international short films for young audiences alongside work from emerging local filmmakers, so there's plenty to see beyond this one session.
Cinemagic's world cinema programme puts a spotlight on youth issues and includes talent lab industry masterclasses, classic and brand-new family and teen films, the Cinemagic Young Filmmaker weekend and Official Film Jury panels. The events are spread across the city, with screenings and sessions at the Ulster Museum, Queen's Film Theatre, The Belfast Barge, Black Box and the Peter Froggatt Centre at Queen's, so you can easily build a few different things into one trip if you're interested in more than just the cinema.
