Live concert by Welsh folk singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph, with his guitar, at the Crescent Arts Centre.
Martyn Joseph plays the Crescent Arts Centre on Thursday 12 November, part of his current tour. He's a Welsh singer-songwriter who's been at this for over forty years, and the whole show is just him, his guitar and his voice. He's often compared to Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Dave Matthews and Bruce Cockburn, and he's picked up the nickname 'The Welsh Springsteen' along the way.
He's a prolific writer, and this tour comes after his twenty-eighth studio album, Troubled Horses, which he released in November 2025. That's a lot of ground to draw from for a single set. His songwriting has also landed him a place on BBC Radio 2's 21st Century Folk project, where he wrote and performed 'Chapel Porth Beach' in 2024 and 'Albert's Place' in 2023. In 2021, his album 1960 was named Folk Album of the Month by Mojo.
There's a bit of a political thread to his work too. In 2015, Parliament commissioned him to write 'Nye' (Song for the NHS) as part of the Sweet Liberties project, a song he ended up performing in the Speaker's Chamber. He started out with Sony Music in the early nineties before moving into independent music and launching his own label in 1999.
