Westlife celebrate their 25th anniversary with seven Belfast shows at The O2 Arena, with dark pop singer Ana Sky as special guest.
Ana Sky opens for Westlife at The O2 Arena on Thursday 29 October, starting at 6:30 pm. It's one of seven Belfast dates Westlife are playing to mark their 25th anniversary, a run that takes their total at the arena to 72 — a record for the most performances ever at the venue, one no other artist has come close to matching.
Sky comes from Los Angeles and describes herself as a scientist by day and a musician by night. Her debut EP, Prologue, is out, and she plays dark pop. It's a fair way to go for a support act — from a lab in LA to a Belfast stage — so arriving early enough to catch her set is the only way to hear her before the main act takes over.
Westlife have spent the last 25 years becoming one of the most successful pop groups of all time. They've racked up more than 3 billion streams globally, 36 number one albums worldwide, and 14 UK number one singles, placing them behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles on that front. With over 55 million records sold and more than 6 million tickets sold worldwide, the numbers are hard to argue with. Their Wild Dreams Tour alone moved over 1.2 million tickets, and since their 2019 reunion they've played more than 200 shows across 30 countries, with hits like 'Swear It Again', 'Flying Without Wings' and 'You Raise Me Up' still in the set. This Belfast run is the latest chapter in that, seven nights in one city to celebrate a quarter-century on the go.
