Former Fun Lovin' Criminals frontman Huey Morgan plays The Limelight in Belfast with his new band, marking 30 years since 'Come Find Yourself'.
Huey Morgan plays The Limelight on Saturday 31 October, part of a thirteen-date UK tour this autumn. He's out marking thirty years since the release of Come Find Yourself, the debut album from the New York rock and hip-hop band Fun Lovin' Criminals, where he wrote and produced the group's seminal hits.
If the name is familiar but the face isn't, that's because Morgan was the frontman of the Criminals back then. He's returning to that material with a brand-new band, so this isn't a nostalgia act with the original line-up — it's a fresh take on the songs that started it all. The tour runs throughout October, and Belfast is one of the thirteen stops.
Beyond the stage, Morgan has kept busy in a few different directions. He's an author, a podcaster, and a radio presenter on both BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music. He's also a much-in-demand club and festival DJ, and his record collection sees him spin hip-hop, funk, disco and rock classics around the world. That mix of styles — hip-hop, funk and rock — is exactly what sat at the heart of the Fun Lovin' Criminals' sound, so it's the same ground he's returning to here.
