Screening of 'Coco' preceded by a live Mexican folk dance performance by Mexican Dance Belfast, part of the Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People.
Coco is screening at ODEON Belfast on Saturday 31 October, with a live performance from Mexican Dance Belfast before the film starts. It's part of the 37th Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People, which runs across Belfast for a full month.
The live set opens the session and celebrates the traditions, music and colourful heritage of Mexican folklore, closing with a special dance piece called 'Hello Frida' just before the movie begins. After that, the screen takes over with Coco, a vibrant tale of family, fun and adventure: an aspiring young musician named Miguel journeys to the magical land of his ancestors, befriends the charming trickster Héctor and uncovers the mysteries behind his family's stories and traditions. The whole session runs 135 minutes and is certified PG.
Cinemagic is a month-long programme of screenings, industry talks, workshops and hands-on learning experiences across Belfast venues, including the Ulster Museum, Queen's Film Theatre, The Belfast Barge, Black Box and the Peter Froggatt Centre. This year's edition spotlights youth issues, talent lab masterclasses and the Cinemagic Young Filmmaker weekend. The Coco screening is one of many sessions running throughout the festival, so it's worth keeping an eye on the rest of the line-up if you're around the city that month.

The session starts at 10.30am on Saturday 31 October and finishes around 12.45pm, so it's a morning thing rather than an evening one. With the live dance and the film together, you're looking at about two hours and fifteen minutes in the cinema.
