Free monthly guided tour of Belfast Central Library, the city's iconic building and Northern Ireland's oldest public library.
Belfast Central Library is running its guided tour on Friday 30 October, from 10:30am to 11:30am. It's a monthly thing, always on the last Friday of the month, so if you can't make this one, there's another coming up soon after.
The tour takes you through the library itself, one of the city's most iconic buildings and Northern Ireland's oldest public library. Along the way, they walk you through its history and some of its secrets, so it's a good way to get a proper look at the place rather than just popping in to borrow a book.
There are a couple of things in there worth a separate mention. Up on the second floor is the Northern Ireland Contemporary Fiction Collection, a unique gathering of works by authors born in or closely connected to Northern Ireland. It sits alongside music books, CDs and scores, so if you're into local writing or music, that's a good spot to linger. Down on the ground floor, the library runs a Seed Library, where you can take home packets of flower, plant, herb and vegetable seeds to get something growing in your own garden.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Belfast and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
