Intermediate class to learn the ancient Chinese martial art of Tai Chi, designed to increase flexibility and balance, taught by Mali Harrell.
Mali Harrell leads the Tai Chi - Intermediate - Quarter II class at the Atlanta Botanical Garden this spring, running Saturdays from April 3 through June 12, 2027. It's an intermediate session, so it's built for people who've already put in some time with the practice and are looking to keep moving forward rather than starting from scratch. The classes meet from 10:15 to 11:15 AM, and there's one break in the schedule: the session on May 29 is skipped, so you'll have a weekend off in the middle of the run.
The class focuses on tai chi, an ancient Chinese martial art that's as much about slow, deliberate movement as it is about the quiet that comes with it. Harrell describes it as being designed to increase flexibility and balance, and that's really the core of what you'll be working on over the ten weeks. If you've already got the basics down, this is the next stepβrefining the forms and leaning further into the physical and mental side of the practice.
Because it's an intermediate class, it's not open to everyone who wants to sign up. Registration is by instructor invitation only, so you'll need to be on Mali Harrell's radar to get in. If you've been taking classes with her, that's your way in; if you're coming from somewhere else, you'll want to reach out sooner rather than later. Registration closes on March 30, well before the first session on April 3.

The cost is $139, and it drops to $129 for members. You'll find the class at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave NE, in the heart of the city. Between the Saturday morning slot and the garden setting, it's a pretty easy way to spend a couple of hours outdoors. Just keep that March 30 deadline in mind if you're planning to join.
