Holiday ride-on train, the Botanical Express, takes passengers on a loop around the Great Lawn of the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
The Botanical Express is back at the Atlanta Botanical Garden starting Saturday, November 14, and it runs every Saturday and Sunday through January 3. It's a ride-on train that takes you on a loop around the Great Lawn, so you get to see a good stretch of the grounds without having to do all the walking yourself. Norfolk Southern presents the ride, and it's one of those things that works well as a low-key addition to a day spent at the garden.
Since it runs on weekends throughout the holiday season, you've got plenty of dates to choose from. It's open from 10 AM to 2 PM, which keeps it in the morning and early afternoonโgood if you're planning a family outing or just want to get your garden time in before the rest of your day takes over. If you're heading there, the garden is at 1345 Piedmont Ave NE in Atlanta.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in Atlanta and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you go. Everyone needs a ticket, and children under 3 have to be accompanied by an adult. The train doesn't run in inclement weather, so if the forecast looks bad, it's worth checking in before you make the trip. Tickets are $6 per passenger, or $4 for members, so if you're already a member, it's a cheap way to see the Great Lawn from a different angle. Between the weekend dates and the morning hours, you can fit it in whenever it works best for you.
