Members-only dress rehearsal of the Center for Puppetry Arts' live-puppet adaptation of the 1964 stop-motion classic 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'.
The Center for Puppetry Arts is bringing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to life on Saturday, November 7, as a members-only dress rehearsal. It's a live-puppet adaptation of the 1964 stop-motion special, narrated by Sam the Snowman, and it follows the story you know: Rudolph and Hermey the Elf, two misfits on the run with Yukon Cornelius, travel through Santa's Workshop, the North Pole, and the Island of Misfit Toys while Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster hunts them. The production keeps the festive songs of the original and leans into themes of anti-bullying, acceptance, and self-discovery, using blacklight, body and rod puppetry, and projections to bring the whole thing to the stage.
If you're not familiar with the venue, the Center for Puppetry Arts has been a fixture in Atlanta since 1978. Over nearly 50 years, it's grown into one of the world's leading homes for puppetry, where craftsmanship meets performance and history meets invention. It stages live puppet shows, houses museum exhibits, and runs hands-on workshops and special events. Its collections include the Jim Henson Collection and a Global Collection, and the nonprofit draws on public support to keep puppetry thriving. Each year, it reaches about 50,000 students through field trips, digital workshops, and in-class programming.
