World premiere puppet show based on Carlo Collodi's classic, exploring what it means to be human, recommended for ages 4 and up.
Pinocchio opens at the Center for Puppetry Arts on April 6, 2027, and runs through May 16. It's a world premiere staged as a live puppet show, and it's based on Carlo Collodi's classic tale.
The story starts with the woodcarver Geppetto finishing his most ambitious creation: a mechanical puppet built with clockwork precision. Then the impossible happens, and the puppet awakens. Curious and gloriously unfinished, Pinocchio barrels into a carnival full of foxes and fairies, testing the limits of freedom, responsibility, and what it truly means to be human. It's a version of the story that focuses on growing up, messing up, and the idea that becoming 'real' is a choice rather than a transformation.
Because it's a live puppet show, you'll see the characters moving right in front of you rather than on a screen. The production runs 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 4 and up, so it works as a family outing. One of the better parts of the ticket is that it includes admission to the museum, which means you can spend some time there before or after the show.
