A family-friendly autumn day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden featuring costume shows, live music, cooking demonstrations, children's activities and pumpkin decorating.
Goblins in the Garden takes over the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Sunday, October 18, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It's a full day of fall activities for families, mostly centered in the Children's Garden, with costumes, seasonal crafts and live music running throughout.
The day's biggest draw is the Goblins Runway costume show, which runs four times: 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Between those, there's live music from Travis Murphy at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Murphy's been teaching music to preschool-aged children in and around Atlanta for thirteen years and tours professionally with his band. Garden Chef Jacob Rich leads cooking demos at 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM; he's a Boston native with a degree in culinary nutrition who moved to Atlanta in 2023.
There's plenty to do between the scheduled sets. Kids can ride the ride-on train and the ponies, decorate mini pumpkins, and explore the Rose Garden's Bewitching Fun and the Pumpkin Wonders display. Highland Music Studio, which has run all-ages music lessons in Atlanta for over a decade, brings a backyard of instruments for kids to try. The Junior League of Atlanta's Journey to Literacy runs from 10 AM to 3:30 PM—a hands-on program focused on early childhood education and giving caregivers ways to develop early literacy skills.
