The 19th edition of Atlanta's premier horror film festival, with screenings of independent horror, sci-fi and thriller films over four nights at the historic Plaza Theatre.
The 19th Annual Buried Alive Film Festival returns to the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta from November 5 to 8, 2026. It's a four-night run dedicated to independent horror, sci-fi, and thriller cinema, and it's been running for nearly two decades nowβthis is its 19th year. The festival is billed as the city's premier horror film festival, and it's built its name on bold curation, a supportive community, and screenings that stick with you. It continues to champion true underground filmmaking, the kind of work that doesn't always find a home in the mainstream.
The program is open to submissions of all kinds: feature films, shorts, web series, animations, and music videos. Every entry goes through a selection committee and a panel of judges, so the lineup is curated rather than just a collection of whatever came in. Over the four nights, you'll find horror shorts and feature films, and the festival also names a Featured Filmmaker of the Year.
