Friday-night shadow cast screening of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' in which amateur actors pantomime the film's scenes in front of the screen.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is back at The Plaza Theatre on Friday, October 30, as part of the theater's long-running tradition of showing the film with a live shadow cast. If you've never seen how it works, a shadow cast is exactly what it sounds like: amateur actors in costume pantomime the movie's scenes in front of the screen and in the aisles while the film plays. It's a double feature in one—the movie on the screen and a live performance happening right in front of you.
The local group behind it is Lips Down on Dixie (LDoD), and they've been staging screen-accurate productions at the Plaza almost every Friday night since 2000. They started as an alternative entertainment source for metro Atlanta and have grown into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Because they've been at this for over two decades, they know the movie inside and out, and the whole thing has become a fixture of the city's late-night scene.
It's not a one-off, either. The show runs year-round, with performances on nearly every Friday night at 11 PM, so if you can't make this particular date, there's usually another one coming up soon. The Plaza is located at 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave NE in midtown.

Tickets are $15, with a discount for children, seniors, and military that brings it down to $12.75. If you buy online, there's a $1.50 service fee. The show starts at 11 PM, so it's a late one—perfect for a Friday night.
