Family Christmas pantomime with local jokes, Doric, song and dance, including a BSL-interpreted relaxed performance.
TaleGate Theatre Productions are back at Aberdeen Arts Centre this winter with The Snow Queen, which runs from 28 November to 27 December 2026. It's their return to the venue for the 2026 season, and they're billing it as the coolest panto in town.
The story is a wintery one: Jack Frost has convinced the Snow Queen to rule over Aberdonia, trapping the city in an endless winter. Her sister, the Summer Fairy, sets out to break the ice and save the day, joined along the way by panto dame Rita Rizza and her silly reindeer friends. It's a family panto, so expect the usual mix of song, dance, and panto magic, with a good dose of local Doric humour running through it.
On stage, Philip Napier takes on Dame Rita Rizza, with Megan Wright as the Snow Queen, Hannah Buyers as the Summer Fairy, Xander Gordon as Jack Frost, and Sarah Ord as Rudy Reindeer. The production is built for a family audience, leaning on those local jokes and the panto tradition to carry it.
