Concert by soprano Mimi Doulton and sound artist Jonathan Higgins, closing the soundfestival with three new commissions and a Q&A.
Mimi Doulton performs at The Lemon Tree on Saturday 31 October, closing out the soundfestival, which runs from 22 to 31 October. The evening brings together soprano Doulton and sound artist Jonathan Higgins for a programme of works for soprano and electronics.
The concert is part of a wider project marking ten years since the UK voted to leave the EU, with five artists reflecting on a decade of change through music and film. The programme includes three new commissions written for Doulton, alongside a documentary that explores voices from the Balkans. Together they look at identity, migration, conflict, nationalism, unity and what it means to be European.
It's a collaboration between sound, Spitalfields Festival and New Music Dublin, supported by the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, PRS Foundation Beyond Borders funding, the Marchus Trust, Kulka, the Vaughan Williams Foundation and Arts Council Ireland. As the closing night of soundfestival, it's the final event of a ten-day run.
