Ocean's 3, the crooner trio, play their classics with the 18-piece Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra big band at the Aberdeen Arts Centre.
Ocean's 3 are playing the Aberdeen Arts Centre on Sunday 8 November, and they're not coming alone. The trio — Dan, Steve and Ryan — will be backed by the Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra, an 18-piece big band made up of local musicians. Together they'll be working through a set of crooner classics, the kind of songs that sit comfortably in the tradition of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Michael Bublé.
Ocean's 3 have been at this for a while. The three of them first played a gig of crooner classics together back in 2005, and they've spent the years since playing across the country and beyond, drawing audiences in the thousands. They describe their act as smooth vocals, sharp suits and bad jokes, and they've taken that combination into every kind of venue and occasion. The Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra provides the big band sound that goes with it, keeping alive the style made famous by the names mentioned above.
The show is part of the Arts Centre's November programme, which is a busy one for the venue. Along with this, they're staging The Sound of Music, presented by St Margaret's School for Girls, and Guys & Dolls, presented by Phoenix Theatre, as well as The UK Rock Show and the festive pantomime The Snow Queen. If you're into musicals, there's a fair bit to pick from around the same time.
