Spoken word poetry night with live musical accompaniment and six open mic slots, recommended for ages 14 and over.
Loud Poets are back at The Lemon Tree on Saturday 17 October, bringing their spoken word night to the venue on West North Street. It's a long-running one: they've spent more than ten years showcasing spoken word poetry from across Scotland and beyond, and the format hasn't changed much since they started. The poetry is always performed with live musical accompaniment, so it's as much a gig as it is a poetry reading.
There's a bit of a double act to the evening. The main part of the night features established poets, but they also hold six open mic slots for anyone who wants to sign up on the door and perform. If you've got something you've been working on, you can get up there yourself rather than just watching from the crowd. It's a night that's drawn praise from Corr Blimey, Shane Koyczan and The Scotsman over the years.
