Night of post-punk, electronic and indie-pop by R.Aggs, Susan Bear and Katya Mansell, part of the Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival.
R.Aggs, Susan Bear and Katya Mansell play the Lemon Tree on Thursday 5 November, as part of the Hen Hoose Collective takeover. It's one night with three artists who usually work in different corners of the city's music scene sharing the same bill.
They're coming together under the Hen Hoose Collective, which brings together post-punk, electronic and indie-pop. R.Aggs is a Glasgow multi-instrumentalist whose euphoric post-punk draws on folk and punk. Susan Bear is a producer and sound designer and a lynchpin of Lost Map Records, with hardware-driven electronics that blend IDM, indie-pop and experimental sounds. Katya Mansell is a Scottish singer-songwriter whose songs explore queer identity, belonging and yearning.
The night is part of the Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Aberdeen and beyond that spreads music, theatre, spoken word, cabaret and more across four days of performances, workshops and events. The 2026 edition is dedicated to queer creativity, framing the festival as a showcase of outstanding artistry and a platform for queer brilliance. It's the first festival of its kind for Aberdeen Performing Arts, mixing cabaret, comedy, music, panel discussions, workshops and a community open stage. Allies and friends are welcome, and the festival consciously uses the word 'queer' as part of a positive reclamation of the term.
