Screening of the film Pride, presented by Belmont Cinema, within the Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival at The Lemon Tree.
The Lemon Tree is screening Pride on Sunday 8 November, part of the Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival. It's presented by the Belmont Cinema, and there'll be a short film shown before the main feature, though that one is still to be confirmed.
If you haven't seen it, Pride is based on a true story: a group of lesbian and gay activists raising money for families affected by the British miners' strike of 1984, at the very start of what became the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign. It's a warm, funny bit of history that works just as well as a crowd-pleaser as it does a queer one.
The screening sits within the Aberdeen Queer Arts Festival, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Aberdeen and beyond. It's put on by Aberdeen Performing Arts and comes after an inaugural 2025 edition that was met with enough enthusiasm to bring back a Makers Market for local queer makers, following a run at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. This 2026 edition is dedicated to queer creativity and is the first of its kind for Aberdeen Performing Arts, pulling together cabaret, comedy, music, panel discussions, workshops and a community open stage, welcoming allies and friends alongside the LGBTQ+ community.
