The Yorkshire Bach Choir and Yorkshire Baroque Soloists perform Bach's Mass in B minor at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall.
Yorkshire Bach Choir are performing Bach's Mass in B minor at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall on Saturday 5 December. They'll be joined by the Yorkshire Baroque Soloists, so you've got the choir and the baroque ensemble together on one stage.
If you're not that familiar with it, the Mass in B minor is one of Bach's biggest works. It's a setting of the Ordinary of the Mass — the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei — and it's a long one, so this is a proper evening of music rather than a quick stop-in. The choir and the baroque soloists take it through the whole thing, from the opening Kyrie to the final Agnus Dei.
The venue is the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall at the University of York, YO10 5DD. It's a good spot for something like this, with the choir and the ensemble filling the room. If you've been to the hall before, you'll know the layout; if not, it's on the university campus, so it's worth checking your route in advance.
