The Chapter House Choir performs a selection of carols by candlelight, joined by the Chapter House Youth Choir and the Handbell Ringers of the Chapter House Choir.
The Chapter House Choir are back at York Minster on Saturday 19 December for Carols by Candlelight, their annual Christmas concert in the Nave. It's a selection of carols performed by candlelight, and they're not on their own this time: they'll be joined by the Chapter House Youth Choir and the Handbell Ringers of the Chapter House Choir.
If you're not familiar with them, the Chapter House Choir is one of North Yorkshire's leading chamber choirs, known for polished performances across a wide range of choral music and led by musical director Benjamin Morris. They were founded by Andrew Carter, and the Chapter House Youth Choir was formed in 2016 to mark the choir's 50th anniversary. That youth choir gives singers aged 13 to 19 the chance to sing at the highest level and work with internationally renowned groups like the Gesualdo Six and the Gabrieli Consort, under the direction of Charlie Gower-Smith. Beyond the concert hall, the choir also performs at corporate functions, charity events, weddings and music festivals, and supporters can become patrons for access to pre-concert talks.
