The Rocket Man - A Tribute to Sir Elton John comes to the Grand Opera House York on Sunday 30 August, as part of the show's 2026 UK tour. It's a tribute to Elton John's music, with a live band, costumes and piano solos. The set runs for two hours with an interval, starting at 19:30.
The show is built around the songs that made Elton John a household name. You'll hear 'Saturday Night's Alright', 'Crocodile Rock', 'I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues', 'Daniel', 'I'm Still Standing', 'Philadelphia Freedom', 'Your Song' and many more. The costumes are a big part of it, too, alongside the piano solos that run through the night.
Rus Anderson is the performer at the centre of it, taking on the vocals and the piano. The show is described as the most famous tribute to a musical icon, and it's aimed at anyone who knows and likes Elton John's songs. It's a general audience show, so it works as well for a family outing as it does for a night out with friends.
