A tribute concert to Fleetwood Mac performed by a world-class cast of singers and live band under candlelight in the historic Grand Opera House.
The Music of Fleetwood Mac by Candlelight comes to the Grand Opera House York on Friday 11 September, a tribute to the band's songs performed by a live band and a cast of singers. It's a production that's travelled from the West End in London, so it's not just a local cover band — it's a full-scale show brought in from the capital.
The set is built around the songs most of us know by heart. 'The Chain' and 'Rhiannon' are both on the list, alongside 'Little Lies' and 'Don’t Stop'. Those are the ones that usually get the most attention, and they're all played live by the band and the singers rather than backed by a recording. The whole thing is performed by candlelight, which changes the feel of the room and puts the music front and centre.
It's worth remembering where it's being held. The Grand Opera House has been the home of live entertainment in North Yorkshire since 1902, and over more than a century it's seen a long list of names pass through its doors: Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellan, Charlie Chaplin, Morecombe & Wise, and Laurel & Hardy. This is one more night in that history, with a West End production taking the stage.
