Legendary pop and rock duo Sparks perform a career-spanning concert at the York Barbican as part of their international tour.
Sparks play the York Barbican on Tuesday 25 August, their first show in York since 1974. The duo is Ron Mael on keyboards and his brother Russell Mael on vocals, and the set will run across their whole career, from the early records to the new material.
They're touring their 28th studio album, MAD!, and its companion EP, MADDER!, following a world tour in 2025. This date is part of a wider international run that takes them through Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Europe, with other UK stops in London, Glasgow, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bristol, and Southend-on-Sea.
If you're coming to them late, the brothers first made a name for themselves in the UK in 1974 with the hit 'This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both of Us'. Since then they've put out more than 20 albums, recorded a pop opera, and formed the supergroup FFS with Franz Ferdinand. Their influence reaches a wide range of artists, from Joy Division and Depeche Mode to Björk, Beck, and The Last Dinner Party, and they were the subject of Edgar Wright’s documentary The Sparks Brothers.
