The Snowman comes to York Barbican on Tuesday 22 December, with the film projected on the big screen and the soundtrack performed live by a professional orchestra. It's presented by Carrot Productions, who bill themselves as the world's leading performers of The Snowman with live orchestra, and they bring together some of the UK's finest musicians for the night. The show has picked up awards along the way and was named among the top family things to do at Christmas by The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The Telegraph.
The film itself is the main event, but there's more to the evening than just the screening. The programme opens with Fleece Navidad, the Shaun the Sheep Christmas short, followed by a festive medley. Daniel Whibley introduces the orchestra, and there's a visit from The Snowman himself. The night closes with a sing-along of Walking in the Air, so you'll be joining in on that one rather than just listening.
