Stand-up comedy show Vexy Beasts by Rachel Fairburn at Theatre@41, featuring character comedy and social commentary.
Rachel Fairburn brings her new show, Vexy Beasts, to Theatre@41 on Sunday 4 October. It's part of her 2026 tour, and the night sits somewhere between stand-up and character comedy, with Fairburn alternating between her own voice and a whole cast of personalities.
Those characters are a good part of the draw. The line-up includes nepo babies with novels to sell, middle-class rock stars struggling through it, terrifying mothers, and bitter theatre ushers, alongside a few of her older favourites. Around them, she works through the gripes, irritations, and social commentary that give the show its title.
If you've come across her work before, you'll know she's as much a character comedian as a stand-up. She's a co-host of the international hit podcast All Killa No Filla, and her TV credits run through Live at the Apollo on BBC Two, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled on Dave, Richard Osman’s House of Games on BBC Two, and Russell Howard Hour Life Lesson on Sky. The reviews have been consistently strong: Rolling Stone called her a 'Rock ’n’ Roll Star of British Comedy', The Guardian described her as a 'skilled impressionist', and The Skinny went with 'bright, brave and bitterly enjoyable'. Broadway Baby summed up her stage presence as 'commanding, thrilling and utterly addictive'.
