Traditional Christmas service with nine readings, music by the Choir of York Minster and carols for everyone to join in.
York Minster is holding its Nine Lessons and Carols service on Thursday 24 December, the Minster's traditional Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It's a service of nine readings alternating with carols sung by the Choir of York Minster, with the congregation joining in on the carols. The whole thing runs for about an hour.
If you can't make it in person, the Christmas Eve service is livestreamed on the Minster's YouTube channel, so you can follow it from home. The service is free, but you need to pre-book your tickets. Doors open at 3:00 pm, and ticket holders are asked to be seated by 3:45 pm for the 4:00 pm start. The Minster is on Deangate, York, YO1 7HH.
