Comedy show by Tom Allen, bringing his stand-up to the stage on his Totally tour.
Tom Allen brings his new stand-up show, Totally, to York Barbican on Friday 11 December. It's the follow-up to his previous tour, Completely, and he frames this one as totalling up what life is all about. The set follows him trying to live in the moment, only to get distracted by the everyday absurdities that crop up along the way: old women on the bus listening to music without earphones, influencers showing him what his house is supposed to look like while his kitchen has just flooded, and a plumber who wants to fit a 'fanny trap'.
If you've come across him on the telly rather than the stage, there's plenty to go on. He's a Bromley-born comedian, actor, author and presenter who co-hosts ITV's Cooking with the Stars and runs two podcasts: Like-Minded Friends and the gardening one, Pottering. He's a regular on the panel show circuit, too, with appearances on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie To You?, QI and Live at the Apollo. He also spent some time in the West End, starring as Ruth in the musical Titanique.

Beyond the comedy, he's a best-selling author with two memoirs, No Shame and Too Much, and a debut novel, Common Decency. The Scotsman called the show 'riotous stuff, perfectly delivered'. It's a full evening of stand-up at the Barbican on 11 December, so if you're after a night out in the city that winter, this is one to keep on the radar.
