A new comedy show by Sam Danson exploring generational divides, set around a reluctant camping trip.
Sam Danson brings his new comedy show Off Grid to Theatre@41 on Saturday 10 October. It's a one-man show that looks at the generational divide, and it does so through the lens of a camping trip that nobody really wanted to go on.
The setup is simple enough: a protagonist is dragged out into the wild with his politically outspoken uncle and told to leave the technology behind. There's no signal and no screen to hide behind—just beer, fishing rods and jerky. From there, Danson works his way into the wider gap between the generation that grew up with no internet and the one that grew up with all of it. It's a comedy show, but it doesn't stop at the jokes; it touches on binary politics and the way the online world is shifting the ground beneath us.
Off Grid is Danson's debut tour, following on from two previous successful shows. With The Stage describing Danson's writing as 'hilarious yet extremely moving', and The Reviews Hub praising his 'laugh out loud writing and performance', this new show promises to be a night that'll have you laughing out loud, but one that's got a bit of heart to it as well.
