Micklegate Singers Performance: Sound Waves

Micklegate Singers are performing Sound Waves on Sunday 30 August, at 12 noon in the York Museum Gardens, directly behind York Art Gallery. It's a free performance, and you don't need a ticket or any sort of booking to come along.

The set is a selection of excerpts from the choir's programme, which they've built around Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Print, a major exhibition that's been running at York Art Gallery. The exhibition has inspired a wide programme of talks, events and workshops over its run, and this performance forms part of the closing celebration. So, if you've been following the exhibition since it opened, this is one of the final things on the calendar.

For context, the gallery's talks have been led by curators, academics and gallery specialists, including Dr Eleanor Jackson, the Curator of Fine Art who curated the show. The choir's appearance is suitable for all ages, and you don't need admission to York Art Gallery to see it — it's out in the gardens, so it's open to anyone who happens to be passing by. If you've been meaning to see the exhibition before it closes, this is a good excuse to head down and catch the choir at the same time.

It's a Sunday lunchtime slot, free of charge, in the Museum Gardens, right behind the gallery. The choir starts at 12 noon on 30 August.
