Hands-on plant-based tasting workshop with instructor Karen Frost, covering whole-food recipes and the health benefits of a plant-based diet.
Karen Frost is leading a plant-based tasting workshop at the Lotus Pond Center for Yoga and Health on Sunday, November 1, from 3 PM to 5:30 PM. It's a hands-on session run by the center, and the main draw is the tasting: you'll work your way through a curated lineup of whole-food, plant-based recipes that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, so you get a sense of how a plant-based day actually looks and tastes.
Between the tastings, Frost walks you through the basics. She'll explain what a plant-based diet is, how to source the essential nutrients you need, and the science-backed health benefits that come with it—things like lower blood pressure, reduced cardiovascular disease, stabilized blood sugar, and lower cholesterol and inflammation. It's as much a learning session as it is a tasting, so you'll leave with a better handle on the why as well as the how.
Frost comes to this from her own experience. She started her plant-based journey in 2019 after a personal health wake-up call, and she's spent years in the helping professions as a licensed mental health counselor. She's also a certified yoga instructor who teaches a weekly Gentle/Beginner Yoga class at the Lotus Pond and is currently completing a 300-hour advanced Yoga Teacher Training, so she's a familiar face around the center.
