Hands-on STEAM workshop for 3rd-6th graders to explore robots and simple coding through playful activities.
MOSI is hosting a Kids STEAM Workshop: Make it Move on Saturday, November 14, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's aimed at 3rd through 6th graders, and the focus is on robots and simple coding. The whole thing is hands-on, so the kids spend the morning building and experimenting rather than just watching a demonstration.
This is part of MOSI's broader Kids STEAM Workshops, which are open to students in K-6th grade. The workshops are designed to get kids doing science themselves—solving mysteries with forensics, experimenting with reactions and materials, and designing, building, and testing their own creations. The sessions are led by educators and lean into problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. Most of them align with Cub Scout and Girl Scout badge requirements, and both scouts and non-scouts are welcome.
If you're not familiar with the place, MOSI is Tampa Bay's center of science and innovation, a hands-on science center with permanent and rotating exhibits and a steady stream of programming. The workshops fit right into that approach: they're about playful exploration and learning by doing.

On the practical side, children under 13 need an adult chaperone, with a minimum ratio of one adult per ten children, and adults are encouraged to participate alongside their kids. The workshop runs from 10 AM to 1 PM on November 14, and tickets are $21+ per child, with a member discount available.
