Sunn O))) plays Delmar Hall in St. Louis on their USA tour, marking their return to live performance as a duo.
sunn O))) play Delmar Hall on Tuesday, October 20, as part of their North American tour. It's a duo set with Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, the two who have been at the core of the project since it formed in Los Angeles back in March 1998.
If you're not familiar with them, they're known for a sound that sits at the intersection of drone, noise, metal and minimalism. They've spent over two decades working with volume, density and weight, and their discography runs from the 1999 The Grimmrobe Demos through to 2021's Metta, Benevolence. Along the way, they've pulled in elements of contemporary composition, jazz and minimalism, so the music often feels as much like a physical presence as it does a song.
This particular tour marks 25 years for the project. To celebrate, O'Malley and Anderson have returned to the live aspect in its original raw form, performing as a duo across Europe and North America. They've played some pretty distinct rooms on this run—David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, Labirinto Della Masone in Italy, the Ruhrtriennale in Germany, The Barbican in London and the Manchester International Festival—and Delmar Hall is the St. Louis stop.
