Australian acoustic guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel plays The Sheldon with special guest Jake Schneider on his 'Living In The Light Tour'.
Tommy Emmanuel is playing two nights at The Sheldon on Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22, 2027, as part of his Living In The Light tour. He's bringing special guest Jake Schneider along for both dates. Both shows start at 8 PM, with doors opening at 7 PM.
Emmanuel is a CGP—Certified Guitar Player—and has been working the guitar since he was six, touring Australia with his family's band. By his teens, he was a sought-after sideman and session player; in his early twenties, he was playing on chart-topping hits with Air Supply and Men at Work. He stepped out as a solo artist in 1979, inspired by Chet Atkins, who became a friend, mentor, and collaborator. From there, he released a string of acclaimed instrumental albums and headlined venues from the Sydney Opera House to Carnegie Hall. He's toured with Eric Clapton and John Denver, won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement, and performed for a televised Sydney Olympics audience of more than two billion. Along the way, he's collaborated with guitarists like Les Paul, Mark Knopfler, Joe Walsh, Richard Thompson, Jason Isbell, and Billy Strings.
This tour is built around his album Living In The Light, which he recorded in just four days. He describes it as a fusion of his pop, jazz, classical, and roots influences, so the set should pull from a few different directions. NPR's World Cafe has called him one of the best acoustic guitarists in the world, and that's a fair place to start if you're not familiar with his work.
