West End Players Guild stage production of Larissa FastHorse's comedy about four theatre artists trying to create a culturally sensitive Thanksgiving pageant for elementary students.
West End Players Guild is bringing The Thanksgiving Play to the Central West End from November 13 to 22, 2026. It's a contemporary comedy by Larissa FastHorse, directed by Dani Mann, and it runs at the Guild's theater at 733 Union Blvd #300.
The play centers on four well-intentioned theater artists who set out to create the "perfect" culturally sensitive Thanksgiving pageant for elementary school students. As they work, they get tangled in questions of representation, identity, privilege, and storytelling. It's the kind of comedy that starts with a simple premise and ends up poking at things that are a lot harder to pin down than a school play. The script won multiple national awards and was the first play by a Native American woman produced on Broadway.
On stage, the four roles are Logan, a high school drama teacher; Jaxton, a yoga practitioner and actor; Alicia, a professional actress; and Caden, an elementary school history teacher. The dynamic between them—a mix of educators and performers trying to get on the same page—is where most of the comedy comes from.
