The Black Jacket Symphony performs Led Zeppelin IV live in its entirety, part of the Powell Hall Presents series at Powell Hall.
The Black Jacket Symphony bring Led Zeppelin IV to Powell Hall on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 7:30 PM. It's part of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra's 147th season, led by Music Director Stéphane Denève, and falls under the 'Powell Hall Presents' series—the non-orchestral nights that bring guest artists into the hall rather than the orchestra itself.
The album they're working from is Led Zeppelin IV, released in 1971 and home to 'Stairway to Heaven.' It's widely regarded as one of the world's most influential rock albums, a record that blended heavy metal, folk, rock-n-roll and blues and still resonates more than five decades later. The Black Jacket Symphony stages such classics as live performances: a handpicked group of musicians recreates a selected album in its entirety, with no sonic detail overlooked.
The show runs in two sets. The first presents the album as a symphonic piece, and the second is a selection of the artist's greatest hits, played with a full light display and a more laid-back arrangement. The two halves give you the record as a whole and then a broader look at the band's catalog, with the second half shifting the energy from the symphonic to the light show.
