The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performs John Williams' score live to the film 'Star Wars: A New Hope' on the big screen, conducted by Damon Gupton.
The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is bringing Star Wars: A New Hope to Powell Hall for a three-night run in March 2027. The original film plays on the big screen, and the SLSO performs John Williams' score live to the picture, so the music you hear is coming from the stage, not a recording.
It's the movie that started it all, and the score follows it from the opening fanfare through Princess Leia's theme. The performance runs two hours and 40 minutes, including intermission, so you'll be in your seat for the whole thing. Conductor Damon Gupton leads the orchestra, and the SLSO handles the full score live.
After each evening's show, there's an After Party in the lobby—drinks and conversation in a relaxed, modern vibe. The featured artists don't appear there, and you don't need a separate ticket to go. If you're coming for the movie, it's a good place to wind down afterward.
