Shawn James plays Delmar Hall with Evan Bartels on the 'Flew Too Close To The Sun Tour', with doors at 7 pm.
Shawn James brings his Flew Too Close To The Sun Tour to Delmar Hall on Thursday, October 22, with Evan Bartels opening. The St. Louis date is part of a run that also stops in Nashville and Louisville.
James was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and started releasing his own music in 2012. He pulls from a wide range of genres — folk, blues, R&B, gospel, rock, and metal — and is known for raw, soul-stirring vocals and a sound that doesn't fit into one easy category. You might recognize his voice from "Through the Valley," which first gained global attention in The Last of Us Part II trailer in 2016 and later in HBO's The Last of Us series in 2025.
Opening the night is Evan Bartels, a Nebraska-born, Nashville-based Americana singer-songwriter raised in the prairie town of Tobias. He started writing and playing at 13 and earned national recognition with his 2017 debut album The Devil, God & Me, followed by Promised Land in 2019, Lonesome in 2021, and the 2025 EP To Make You Cry.
