Rob Anderson brings his musical comedy show Are You Afraid of the 90's? to Helium & Elements Restaurant on Thursday, December 17, at 7 PM. If you've come across his work online, you probably know him as the New York City comedian and New York Times bestselling author who makes a career out of breaking down TV shows, movies, and pop culture. That's exactly what he does here, just with the 1990s as the target.
Are You Afraid of the 90's? is a deep dive into the decade's formative television, film, music, and pop culture. He doesn't just talk through it, either—the show is built around comedic breakdowns, original songs, and theatrical presentations. It's the same material that's being recorded for a comedy special of the same name, so this is a chance to see it live before it's locked in on film.
Anderson has spent a lot of time on stage lately. In 2023, he played a sold-out 35-city comedy tour called Heartthrob Live, and Are You Afraid of the 90's? is what he returned to after that. Seating is a mix of general admission on a first-come, first-served basis and reserved seats assigned by management on the night, and there's a two-item minimum in the showroom. The show starts at 7 PM on Thursday, December 17.
