High-energy fusion of live banda brass, tuba and tambora with EDM beats in an 18+ rave.
Punchis Punchis bring their Banda Rave to The Hawthorn on Friday, October 23, for a night that puts two very different sounds in the same room. The whole thing is billed as a "Banda Rave Experience," and it's exactly what it sounds like: MΓΊsica Regional/Banda fused with EDM. You'll hear live brass, tuba, and tambora playing right alongside electronic beats.
That's the core of the act. The brass, tuba, and tambora are the hallmarks of banda, and they're played live on stage, not sampled. When those traditional horns hit against the bass and electronic production of a rave, you get a high-energy hybrid that doesn't really fit into one box. It's a collision of regional Mexican music and dance floor culture, and the show leans into that tension rather than trying to smooth it over.
According to the project, the idea was born from the notion that culture and rave could collide. From there, it's about bringing tradition and rave, banda and bass, into the same space. The result is a high-energy set that pushes the party to a new level, with the live brass section keeping the banda side of the equation front and center.
