Concert by the jazz, funk and soul collective Playadors, with Brooklyn Saint and a DJ set by Jay-E, at Delmar Hall in the Delmar Loop.
Playadors are playing Delmar Hall on Wednesday, November 25, with Brooklyn Saint and a DJ set from Jay-E. It's an all-ages night, so you can bring the kids along if you're not planning on a late one.
Playadors is a musical collective led by Dave Grelle, a keyboardist, composer, and musical director who handles the keys and the arrangements. Their sound sits right at the intersection of jazz, funk, and soul, and the list of names they draw from tells you exactly where they're coming from: Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Prince, and Parliament Funkadelic. They pull in rockers like Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy too, and they play all of it with a modern twist. Grelle switches between genres without much fuss, and the set mixes original compositions with reimagined classics.
Delmar Hall is in the Delmar Loop at 6133 Delmar Blvd, and it was built specifically for live music. It has tiered floor plans and versatile layouts that keep every seat or standing spot within about 70 feet of the stage, so you're never far from the action regardless of where you end up. With Brooklyn Saint and Jay-E on the bill, there's a full night of music to work through.
