A full orchestra and a live ensemble of Scottish instruments play Bear McCreary's score from the eight seasons of Outlander while highlights from the show run on a cinema-scale screen.
Outlander in Concert: Echoes Through the Highlands comes to the Stifel Theatre on Saturday, October 24, at 8 PM. It's a live experience built around the music of the Outlander series, with a full orchestra playing the score composed by Emmy winner Bear McCreary. While the orchestra handles the heavy lifting, a live ensemble of musicians and vocalists adds traditional Scottish instruments—bagpipes, fiddles, and the hurdy-gurdy—to keep the Highlands sound front and center.
On a cinema-scale screen, dialogue-light highlights from all eight seasons run alongside the music, curated by showrunner Matthew B. Roberts. The program pulls from the entire run of the show, so it's not just the early seasons; you'll hear the score evolve across the series. McCreary's work on Outlander has reached 500 million streams across 236 territories, with "The Skye Boat Song" alone passing 49 million plays. He's also the composer behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and God of War, so if you recognize his style from other soundtracks, this is where it all started.
The whole thing is an officially licensed production created in collaboration with Roberts and McCreary. It had its world premiere in Scotland on May 30, just before the series' final season arrived on STARZ in the US and MGM+ in the UK. From there, it turned into a global tour by GEA Live and Sony Pictures Television, with stops in more than 75 cities across the US and Europe. The series itself is based on Diana Gabaldon's novels, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide.
