Concert by Lola Kristine, a St. Louis native known for her soulful jazz, blues and gospel fusion, as part of The Sheldon's educational concert series.
Lola Kristine plays The Sheldon on Wednesday, December 16, as part of the venue's Coffee Concert series. The show is titled Home for the Holidays, and it brings a St. Louis native back to her home city for a mid-December date.
Kristine is a St. Louis native who's been pursuing her career in Southern California, and she keeps those roots alive by fusing jazz, blues, and gospel into her music. She's often described as "the little girl with the big voice," and that voice is what carries her songwriting. Her album CHAPTERS charted on independent radio in both Canada and the US, got picked up by music magazines worldwide, and was considered for best Americana album at the 2024 Grammys. It's out on vinyl now, and she's currently working on a new inspirational gospel album.
Coming from a background that blends jazz, blues, and gospel, her sound sits right at the intersection of those traditions. CHAPTERS is the record that put her on the map, and the new gospel project she's working on points toward where she's headed next. Between the two, there's a clear thread of soul running through the songwriting and the singing.
