All-female+ cast of local performers sing iconic men's songs from the Broadway stage in New Line Theatre's musical cabaret.
New Line Theatre is back at Sheldon Concert Hall on January 8 and 9, 2027, with Heroes & Villains: A New Line Cabaret VIII. It's a two-night run, both shows starting at 8 PM, and it's part of New Line's 35th season of bold, adult musical theatre. The company calls itself "The Bad Boy of Musical Theatre," and this is their latest return to The Sheldon, which has hosted them in 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2016, 2025, and 2026.
The premise is straightforward: an all-female+ cast of local performers taking on the iconic "men's songs" of the Broadway stage. They're reframing the American musical theatre catalog through their own lives, and the result is described as equal parts celebration, reclamation, and mic drop. The set alternates between intimate ballads and full-company numbers, so it's not just a string of solo spots.
That cast is a deep bench of St. Louis talent: Peyton Bach, De-Rance Blaylock, Ann Hier Brown, Leah Connelly, Kenya Devine, Steph House, Benni Jillette, London Kimble, Brittany Kohl, Bee Mecey, Stephanie Merritt, and Aliegha Ramos. Associate Artistic Director Chris Moore conceived, curated, and directed the show, with music direction by Jason Eschhofen. Moore has also helmed New Line's productions of American Idiot and We Will Rock You.
