Masquerade ball gala with G.A. Barz at The Dark Room, the live music and art venue inside The Grandel in Grand Center.
G.A. Barz headlines the Galaxy Gala V: Masquerade Ball at The Dark Room on Friday, October 30, at 9 PM. It's a masquerade ball gala, so the dress code is part of the draw—masks encouraged—and G.A. Barz is the main feature of the night. He's a bar-heavy artist who blends real-life experiences with vivid storytelling, and this is the fifth edition of the Galaxy Gala series.
The Dark Room is inside The Grandel, a multi-use arts facility in St. Louis's Grand Center Arts District. The building was the First Congregational Church, built in 1884, and was converted into a live theatre in 1992 before being fully renovated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation and reopened in 2017. Now it houses the 454-seat Grandel Theatre, The Dark Room, and the Grand Hall event and rehearsal space.
The Dark Room itself is a nonprofit concept that brings fine art, live jazz, artisan cuisine, and premium beverages under one roof. It features rotating photography exhibits by emerging and acclaimed photographers and a full-service bar with catering by Michele C. Catering. The stage has become home to many of St. Louis's finest jazz musicians, and the venue also hosts the Wednesday Night Jazz Jam, a free, family-friendly weekly session led by Bob Deboo.
